New Canterbury House Confirmed

*** RETRO POST ***

So today, I drove down to Canterbury to meet a few friends and to sign the contract of my new house (more on that later)…

First up was to get a McDonalds Breakfast - told you I have a craving for McDonalds. I had the Bacon McMuffin with a tea. It was ’lush’ to say the least… then began the drive down… which was really smooth :) There was one annoying person when I got off the M2 who forced everyone to undertake him (it’s not WWE ;)) but everyone did so, gave him two fingers and sped off accordingly…

Got to university part way through womens/4s training (I say womens/4s - there were no women there!) and said hello to a few people. They were beginning their net session and I offered my ‘services’ to bowl a few balls (for the 4s to hit for 4 - see what I did ;))

It started well when I bowled a full toss and got a wicket :) Why am I telling you this? Well, the wicket was one that belong to a certain Praraj Selkar - now those who play cricket at Uni will be well aware of the ‘importance’ of this wicket - safe to say he shall not forget of this moment ;) - for other people, he’s an ‘eccentric’ character - leave it at that.

After that we went to Woodies for a quick drink (soda water and lime for me) and then we went to see the house. Now, I hadn’t seen the house before as I was at Tomlinscote, so we met our landlord, Justin, and I got the tour. (Don’t have photos yet, but I’m sure I will come final year)…

The house is pretty standard, with standard stuff. It does have a dryer, which is a big bonus… no leaving clothes to dry next year! I elected to have the single room, not because I’m a loner, but because of the price… £290 a month with internet… currently, thats £68 cheaper than what I’m paying a month now! #sweet The room is small, but has more than enough room. The guys whom I will be sharing my house with are pretty cool and have even said that I get first dibs on where I put my cricket bag downstairs (which is a major issue… of course!)

Thoughts on the landlord, he seems nice. He’s a ex teacher who still has his teacher mannerisms (using the red ink pens, two copies of the contract in case some idiot made a mistake… (wonder who that was cough cough). The only issue that we can think of is that he maybe be a bit ‘too involved’. I suppose you’d rather have a landlord who is more involved than not involved at all, cause in the first scenario, stuff gets done. But personally, I prefer a landlord who sits back and only comes when there is a problem. Again, seeing as the house I’m going to stay in is in ’better condition’ than my previous two houses, that probably because the landlord is more involved. I don’t know, we’ll see in any case…

Anyway, Will and I went back to Woodies for some food (I had curly fries cause I was going to eat later) and a little chat. I dropped Will off at Canterbury East and went back to uni to take part in 3s training. My ‘aiming at the stumps’ ability was on point, I must say ;) Bowling wasn’t though…

We went back to Woodies for more food, drink and chat before dropping Herklots and Bulbrook off to their respective houses and then driving home. (Driving home in the dark is scary… #FACT)

I again stopped off at Maccies for food (I’m sorry) then drove back home and pretty much went to bed instantly.
